Kris Fenn

Kris Fenn was born in rural Utah and raised with the help of her Grandma Merle, who cultured young Fenn into an avid stamp collector. Being a fervent fan of stamp design, she naturally took to the arts and has been working to sustain arts education and social activism in her neighborhood since high school, working extensively with the Sudanese refugee population, the gay-straight alliance, and various other charities.

Upon turning eighteen, Kris Fenn winded south with the wanderlust.the deep south, that is. A research scholarship led her to Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, where she immersed herself in an all women's atmosphere for a stellar education in feminist studies and studio art. Soon after her arrival to Macon, Fenn became an active member in the small community - helping organize scholarship fundraising events, designing and implementing campus recycling, and organizing city and school-wide art exhibitions and programs. While there, she explored the process of photo documentary, which eventually became one of her senior honors thesis using silver gelatin images to tell a social commentary. Having spent the past four years shaping her world view with some fly young folk, she hopes to mentor kids in a likewise manner.

Upon her return to Salt Lake City, she eagerly sought out Spy Hop as her new home, as she was prepared to send a plate of cookies every day to the organization until they hired her. Luckily she didn't have to dirty her apron.
