Colby Bryson, a native of a small town in eastern Utah, a lover of Dr. Pepper, and on a 5 year mission to wear at least one plaid thing everyday, love of film came in Mrs. Haynes 8th grade history class with the assignment to enter the History Fair. Colby and two Friends, Chloe' Huber and Erica Jones, set out to make their first documentary, the untold stories of Pearl Harbor which took them to the state completion. The next year they decided to do it again this time with a documentary of the eye whiteness accounts of two men who survived the Bataan Death March. This time they took it all the way to the National History Fair in Washington DC, two first for Colby, a national competition and his first time on an air plane.
From that moment on Colby was hooked to the power of an amazing story told visually. Since then Colby has not stopped, throughout the rest of school working on numerous projects in his high school's (Cyprus High in Magna UT "Go Pirates") School Of Technology program, and through out the rest of the school on a number of other projects.
Colby happened upon Spy Hop Productions when his high school was invited to participate in a 2 day PSA workshop taught at Spy Hop's 2004 Locomotion Film Festival. "It was an amazing place that had everything that I could not find anywhere else." After which he applied for the Media Studio Apprenticeship, which he was a student of for 1 ½ years. Next for Colby was the Pitch-Nic program where he wrote and produced the film Out Of Mind, followed up by peer mentoring the next year's Pitch-Nic films.
Colby officially joined the Spy Hop pod in early 2008, excited to be in what he considers the perfect job for himself, and now heads up the Alumni Media Studio. A place for former students of Spy Hop's programs to still work within Spy Hop and work with numerous individuals and businesses of the area.
