If you love film, this is your chance to try out something new every month.  Make a music video, perfect your camera work following skateboarders around, or focus on editing your footage into one fantastic film. Happening every month on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, you can learn a ton of new skills.

MONTAGE: Editing with Final Cut Studio // An immersive look at the editing tools that working professionals use. Learn shortcuts and insider tricks of the Final Cut Studio. From training sequences to the experimental art film, learn the psychology of editing to affect your audience.

OLD SCHOOL ANIMATION
Learn the basics of traditional 2D animation and work on various projects including rear-lit animation, cutout animation and line drawing.  The class will culminate in an experimental line animation where your own designs morph into others.

BEHIND THE SCENES: The Zombie Movie
We’ll go from script to final edit in 3 short weeks to create a killer zombie movie you’ll take home.  Learn script, shots, camera and basic sound then move into post production to edit, add music, sound effects, music and graphics.

FILM DIY: Guerilla Gear
Make your own film equipment!  From inexpensive movie lights, dollies/sliders, to cranes and car mounts, you’ll learn the tricks from a master DIY-er.  You’ll get to shoot quick scenes with all the gear and see what a little creativity and ingenuity can bring to low-budget filmmaking.

PAST FILM WORKSHOPS

THE ILLUSTRATED SONG - Work with a local band to create a music video for their hit single. Experiment with the various methods and types of music video genres while learning the elements of storytelling, song interpretation, multi-camera shooting and editing. MTV, here you come!

URBAN ADRENALINE – Capture all the action and adrenaline of the skate park.  Learn the techniques of the pros, get your hands on the latest gear and put it all together to make your own skateboarding video.  We’ll cover camera and editing basics and then hit the skatepark to film local skaters as well as head over to Skate 4 Homies to film the skaters there.
