The Interactive Media Apprenticeship Program offers participants the opportunity to explore Flash Animation and Actionscript to create fun interactive programs and digital portfolios. Additionally, students will work on web design, sound design, Photoshop 'grungestyle' techniques, and other multimedia projects. Whether you are a designer or into developing the back-end, this program teaches participants a broad range of skills while they design media with a purpose. Apprentices work extensively with Flash and Photoshop, with an introduction to Dreamweaver, and other multimedia programs. The experience provides hands-on education and real-world career experiences. For almost six months, youth apprentices work with professional industry mentors and instructors to design, develop, and implement affordable media works for local non-profit organizations. Young people of high school age are given the unique opportunity to:

  • Receive valuable creative, technical, and vocational skills in media and technology.
  • Develop critical learning, media literacy, and leadership skills
  • Earn a modest weekly stipend (an important source of income for our participants).
