The iDEA experience begins with a week-long residential workshop where participants collaborate through a project-based learning approach to the filmmaking process, in order to model teaching strategies for use in a classroom setting. The workshop is followed by varied levels of support from iDEA throughout the academic year. The intended outcomes of this professional development training are:

  • Implement an effective media-based professional development model that can be replicated and scaled-up in successive years.
  • Increase access and opportunities for student learning through standards-based, integrated multimedia instruction.
  • Enhance and strengthen educational partnerships among schools, districts, community organizations, and after school programs.
  • Improve students' multimedia skills and understanding, and their engagement in 21st Century Skills.
