Matt Mateus

Matt Mateus has been teaching audio for the past five years at Spy Hop Productions. A Utah native, Matt has been involved with creating and recording music since he was a teenager. Over the years he has released or appeared on over a dozen recordings both nationally and internationally.  He has toured the US and Europe many times and continues to do so with his band. After spending a couple of years training as a recording engineer in New York City under some amazing tutelage Matt returned to Salt Lake City and began teaching at Spy Hop.  He brings “real-life” experience to his teaching and embraces the role of youth mentor. Aside from the work that he does at Spy Hop, Matt pioneered at program at a local Middle School to help improve academic scores and he spent his summer building a recording studio for the local Boys and Girls Club.  He is passionate about independent music and is often seen at the local all ages venues supporting his students.
